Privacy Policy

This policy covers the Texas Voter mobile app, published by Pappas Productions, LLC.

The short version

You can use the entire voter side of the app without an account and without giving us anything. Two optional features do send data to our servers: turning on message notifications, and requesting a county party official account. Both are described below.

We run no advertising, no analytics, and no third party trackers. We do not sell your data and we do not share it with anyone for their own purposes.

Using the app as a voter

Browsing ballots, candidates, offices, voting centers, deadlines, and issue explanations requires no account and sends us no personal information. The app requests public civic data from our servers using standard web requests. We do not use those requests to identify or profile you.

Your positions and choices

If you record your own positions on issues to compare candidates, those choices are stored only on your device. They are never transmitted to us or anyone else.

Location

The app does not ask for or use your device location. The voting center map shows locations published by your county; it does not show where you are.

Message notifications (optional)

The Messages tab carries posts from verified county party officials. If you choose to turn on notifications in Settings, the app stores the following on our servers so we can deliver the right messages to the right phones:

• A push notification token issued to your app installation by Apple or Google through the Expo push service. It identifies your device for delivery. It is not your name, phone number, or email.
• The county you selected.
• The precinct number you entered.
• Which party's updates you have chosen to receive or not receive.

Because your choice of which party's updates to receive can indicate political preference, we treat it as sensitive. It is used only to decide which notifications to send you. It is never sold, shared, or used for any other purpose.

Turning notifications off in Settings stops delivery. To erase the stored record entirely, open Voter Info and tap "Delete my notification data." That removes the token, county, precinct, and party preference from our servers.

County party official accounts (optional)

The app includes a portal for verified county party officials who publish voter information posts. It is reached from a link at the bottom of the Messages tab or from Voter Info. Ordinary voters never need it.

Creating an official account uses a one time code sent to your email address. There is no password. If you request access, we store:

• Your email address.
• Your name.
• Your party, your role (county chair, cluster captain, or precinct chair), your county, and the precinct or precincts you claim.
• The status of your request, and a reason if it is denied.
• The title and body of any posts you publish, which are shown publicly in the app.

This information is used to verify your claim with the county party, to route your posts to the right audience, and to display the author line on your posts. Party affiliation here is sensitive information and is used only for those purposes.

Deleting an official account

You can delete your official account from inside the app at any time. Open the officials area, tap the account icon in the header, and choose Delete Account. This permanently erases your account, your access request, your name, party, county and precinct, any messages you published, and this device's notification record. It cannot be undone.

If you cannot reach the app, email [email protected] from the address on the account and we will delete it within 30 days.

Where your data is stored

App data is stored with Supabase, a hosted database provider, on servers in the United States. Push notifications are delivered through the Expo push service, which passes them to Apple and Google. These providers process this data on our instructions to operate the app. We use no advertising networks and no analytics providers.

Crash information

If the app crashes, technical details about the error are saved on your device so the problem can be diagnosed. They are not transmitted to us automatically.

External links

The app links to outside websites, including county election offices, the Texas Secretary of State, and candidate campaign sites. Those sites have their own privacy practices, which we do not control.

Children

The app is a civic information tool intended for voters. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

This website

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics or trackers. It's served by Cloudflare, which processes standard technical request data to deliver and secure the site. The page loads its fonts from Google Fonts, which is a standard web request to Google's servers.

Changes

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new effective date.
